Complex care at home, under nurse-led oversight

Specialist support for people with clinical, neurological, or long-term health needs — delivered safely at home across South London and Kent.

What complex care is

Complex care at home goes beyond standard domiciliary care. It is specialist support for people whose needs require clinical knowledge, trained staff, and registered nurse oversight — delivered in the client's own home rather than in a hospital or residential setting.

Aegys Homecare Services is registered to provide Treatment of Disease, Disorder or Injury as well as Personal Care. This dual CQC registration means the service can lawfully and safely provide clinical interventions at home, under the oversight of the Registered Manager who is a qualified nurse with over 16 years of experience.

Who complex care is for

Complex care from Aegys is suitable for adults living with a wide range of conditions, including:

  • Neurological conditions such as multiple sclerosis, motor neurone disease, Parkinson's disease, and acquired brain injury
  • Stroke and spinal injury
  • Advanced dementia with complex behavioural or physical needs
  • Respiratory conditions requiring CPAP or BiPAP support
  • Diabetes requiring insulin management and monitoring
  • Conditions requiring enteral nutrition including PEG and PEJ feeding
  • Complex wound care and pressure area management
  • Catheter and stoma care
  • Seizure management
  • Palliative and end of life care at home

This list is not exhaustive. If a specific condition or care need is not listed, contact the team to discuss whether the service can support it.

How complex care is delivered

Every complex care client receives a personalised care plan developed with input from the client, family, and relevant healthcare professionals including GPs, community nurses, and therapists where appropriate.

Care is delivered by staff who have been assessed as competent to perform the specific interventions required. No clinical task is carried out unless the carer has been signed off as competent, the care plan authorises it, and appropriate clinical oversight is in place.

The Registered Manager provides clinical governance throughout, reviewing care plans regularly and responding promptly to any changes in the client's condition.

Clinical governance and safety

Safety is central to how complex care is planned and delivered at Aegys. The service operates a clear governance framework that includes:

  • Competency assessment for all clinical tasks before staff are authorised to perform them

  • Digital care records updated after every visit

  • Prompt escalation to the GP, community nurse, or emergency services where a change in condition is identified
  • Regular supervision and clinical review by the Registered Manager

  • Medication administration recorded electronically after every visit

  • Family communication and updates with consent

How to get started

Complex care packages begin with a thorough assessment. A senior member of the Aegys team — often including the Registered Manager for higher-acuity packages — visits to understand the individual's clinical needs, current support, and home environment. A personalised care plan is developed in collaboration with the client, family, and existing healthcare professionals.

For hospital discharge packages, management oversight is provided from the first visit. For new complex care referrals in the community, the service aims to begin care as promptly as the assessment and care planning process allows.
